After Captain America’s death at the end of the Civil War, while in S.H.I.E.L.D. custody. Bucky confronted, his former partner and lover, Natasha Romanova the Black Widow. She was transporting Cap’s Shield for safe keeping but Bucky took it from her forcibly. After a fight with S.H.I.E.L.D. Director, Tony Stark, Bucky decided to take up Roger’s mantel and become the new Captain America. Before deciding to be Captain America, he had to make sure he covered his back by having S.H.I.E.L.D. remove any remaining memory implants and telling Tony he didn’t answer to him or anyone.
Unlike his predecessor, James used fear and weapons to complete his mission. Not everyone takes a liking to this Captain America but Bucky does what he has to to get the job done. He is often seen fighting along side Sam Wilson, the Falcon, although he disproved of his antics
